Unfortunately, “Drugstore” makeup gets a bad wrap. Some people, if not, most people believe that if you can get it at CVS, Walmart or Walgreens it’s not at good as makeup that you can only get online, at a department store or at speciality stores like Sephora or Ulta. This widely accepted belief is not always true.
I have found great makeup in my local Walgreen that was a lot better than a larger name brand that costs me a lot more. Milani Cosmetics is a great example of that. Milani Cosmetics Color Statement Lipstick does not measure up to it’s “drugstore makeup” label.
The Milani Cosmetics Color Statement Lipsticks come in a wide range of finishes; Vinyl, Metallic, Cream, Shimmer, Pearl & Matte finish and currently have 30 shades available.
For this article, I have reviewed 22 of the 30 shades that Miliani Cosmetics Color Statement Lipstick have available. The range of colors are fabulous and vibrant. This formula could easily be marketed under a major brand and be sold for 10 to 20 dollars more than the current retail price.
I swatched the Color Statement Lipsticks with my 5 stoke system that I recently added to The Read review guidelines. I swatch the lipsticks directly from the tube on dry skin with no primer or sealer. I run the lipstick on my skin 5 times in the same line with medium pressure. I believe this will show the lipsticks true color and will preform the same as when applied on the lips directly from the tube.

Product: Since there were over 20 shades for this article, I selected 2 from each finish category to rate by wear. All other evaluations were based on swatching. The formula is very smooth and pigmented, however, the pearl finish lipstick don’t perform like the others.
Pigmentation: The Color Statement Lipsticks were surprisingly very pigmented. The Vinyl and Matte finish shades have the best pigmentation and color stay. However the pearl finish lipsticks did not perform as well and tends to look blotchy after several minutes.
Application: The application was smooth and moisturizing without feeling too greasy or slick. The color is build-able but can be blotchy and smudged. The application didn’t drag on the lips and the lipstick formula has a pleasant fruit/vanilla type fragrance.
Texture: The texture was very smooth but a bit waxy. Even when building on more cover, I didn’t experience any stickiness or smearing.
Longevity: I wore each color for about 4 hours during normal daily activities and didn’t experience any negative effect. I didn’t experience and bleeding and/or smearing However, I did get a little bit of feathering. The deeper shades did stain my lips a little but was easily wiped with a makeup wipe.
Quality Of Ingredients: There are no unique or additional skin benefiting ingredients in this product. However the product does have Vitamin A, C & E provided by the Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopherol & Ascorbyl Palmitate included in the formula.
