As a makeup artist or just a casual makeup lover, there are certain items that you MUST have in your kit/makeup bag. There are several pieces you want to make sure you have for any day or any season of the year but for the first article, I’m going to only list 14 staple products.
1. Eyeliner Pencil Sharpener
It is important to keep your pencils sharpened for smooth application. As a makeup artist it is also required that you sharpen your liners before AND after using them on a client. I prefer a housed eyeliner sharper because it keeps the mess down. The Urban Decay Grindhouse is a favorite of mine because the blade is very sharp and it doesn’t cause the pencil to split no matter how cheap the wood (lol)

2. Stay Spray
Stay sprays or settings sprays are very important. You can create the most beautiful face but it can be ruined by weather, sweat and/or water. I recommend a matte waterproof stay spray that isn’t too stick and doesn’t irritate the skin.

9. Q-tips
Q-tips can be used to clean up around the eyes when a clients eye get watery from lash or eyeliner application. Q-tips can also clean up concealer.
10. Tissue
11. Interdental Brush
I know you are thinking to yourself, why would I need interdental Brushes in my kit?! Well it’s pretty simple and smart, you can use these little tools to apply mascara to the bottom lashes perfectly. I told you it was pretty smart.
12. Lash applicators
13. Translucent powder
Retail Price: $10.00 Ben Nye Luxury Powder
The best translucent powder that I have come across is Ben Nye Luxury Powder. It’s an amazing matte with a subtle finishing. Often compared to French powders with silky-fine textures. The Ben Nye Bella line of powders are translucent with just a hint of color. The Bye Nye Banana Powder became notorious following the classic “Kim K. Contour.”
14. Black Liner
Any waterproof black liner can do the trick. Liner can turn a basic look into a professional makeup beat. Remember you heard it hear first.
