Over the years, I have noticed thinning hair in front of my hair and in the middle of my scalp. My “baby hair” was thinning at an alarming rate. First, I thought it was caused by certain hair styles like braids, high ponytails or extensions. But after speaking with my mother , I discovered I was experiencing hereditary hair loss. She explained once she hit her 40s she started to experience the same hair loss I was experiencing now.
Being in the beauty industry, I had to do something about it. Since Women’s ROGAINE® 5% Minoxidil Topical Aerosol is the first and only FDA-approved, once-daily application hair regrowth product exclusively for women experiencing hereditary hair loss. I decided to add Women’s ROGAINE® Foam to my arsenal of anti-aging products that I use daily to combat Father Time and Mother Nature. I found that it was quick and easy to work into my morning routine. Especially with my curly hair style.
I had the pleasure of asking Jill Crosby, celebrity stylist and Women’s ROGAINE® Brand Ambassador, a few questions during an email interview that helped me with seamlessly add Women’s ROGAINE® Foam products to my daily routine.
- I have thinning but very curly hair, what’s the best way to apply Women’s Rogaine Foam to my unruly tress in the morning?
Unruly is as easy as ruly :)… It’s the same protocol as everyone else. Simply part hair along the thinning area and apply as directed. Make sure it is applied at the root, directly on the scalp. Let dry and style as you would regularly.
- Will ROGAINE® Foam work well with protective styles like twist-outs or Bantu knots?
Yes, however remember…hair loss can be caused by tension as well, so when you are styling fragile or thinning hair, be sure to take into consideration how much tension the style you are creating will produce. My suggestion is to let Women’s ROGAINE© have its time to work and to restore hair before attempting any tension sets such as twists or tight braids.
- Do you have any tips or tricks for getting the best out of my Women’s ROGAINE© Foam experience?
I think using Women’s ROGAINE© Foam at night just before going to bed makes so much sense. You just apply to the scalp and it will air dry, delivering the active ingredient over the course of the night. In the morning, you needn’t worry about adding another step to your routine nor do you have to wait for it to dry before adding other styling products to style.
With the expert help of Jill Crosby and her suggestions, I decided to go for it. By adding just a capful of Women’s ROGAINE® Foam with 5% Minoxidil to my morning beauty routine I can start to fight hereditary hair loss in just 5 easy steps.
Step 1: Dampen clean hair to make it easier to part into sections. (I suggest this if you have thick or curly hair like mine) Make sure that your hair is towel-dried before moving on.
Step 2: Rinse your hands with cold water, then dry. This step will help to keep the foam from dissolving on contact with your warm hands.
Step 3: Place a cap full of Women’s ROGAINE® Foam onto a clean non-absorbent surface like a small soap dish or dish.
Step 4: Part your hair into manageable sections and apply directly to the scalp with a massaging motion starting from the back and working forward.
Step 5: Let air dry and style.
So far I am really happy with the results. It doesn’t interfere with my styling routine and doesn’t cause my hair to feel greasy or weighted down. Even after multiple applications, there is no build up or residue.
